Hybirds - Game Design for an original project, Part 1/3 - UI Elements & Planning

"Hybirds" is my original video game project, presented in a series of 2D illustrations and short animations visualizing the gameplay. The main goal of the game was to familiarize people with the idea of avian hybrids and to allow them to create their own, new creatures. The project includes the designs of the game's logotype, application icon and interface, as well as assets such as buttons, pictograms, backgrounds, and various parts of animals. The game is meant to be both educational and entertaining. The main intention of the project overall was to create a game with pleasant colors and a cozy atmosphere, which would be intuitive and easy to play – allowing users to relax and calm down while playing it. Its second goal is to make the process of creation easy and available for people, making them more sensitive to their inner need to create. The game’s illustrations retain light and serene atmosphere and use warm and delicate colors. The drawings are stylized, with a dark thick outline of the elements, and the animals presented in the game are drawn in a simplified way. Thanks to the fact that their appearance is not fully realistic, the hybrids created look more magical, which makes it easier for the player to accept their unnatural appearance. By mixing and combining what is seemingly incompatible with each other, the application tries to improve users' creativity and promote an unconventional approach to creature design.
